Rajasthan Governor's remarks draw fire from saffron outfits
Jaipur, Jan 05: Rajasthan Governor S K Singh's remarks that Mahatma Gandhi was killed by an RSS man triggered a row on Monday with the BJP and the Sangh Parivar taking strong exception to this, dubbing him as a "Congress agent".
No stranger to controversies, Singh said at a seminar here yesterday that Mahatma Gandhi himself was a "victim of terror and was killed by an RSS man".
The Governor had also said that at the time of partition, Gandhi wanted to give Rs 85 crore to Pakistan which was strongly resented by the RSS.
One of the RSS men, Nathuram Godse, later killed the Father of the Nation, he told the seminar "Gandhi in Times of Terror".
The Governor had earlier triggered a controversy over his remarks on caste-based quota in the state.
Singh remarks drew sharp reaction from BJP, VHP, RSS and other saffron outfits which alleged he was an agent of the Congress.
Former Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, who is in Kota, assailed the remarks saying these did not behove a person holding the office of the Governor.
"A person occupying such a high position should be cautious while speaking in public," the BJP veteran said adding his remarks had no basis at all.
"The Governor is working as an agent of the Congress. A defamation suit should be filed against him for accusing the RSS," VHP leader Jugal Kishore said.
"The Kapoor Commission has already said the RSS had no role in Gandhi's assassination. Then, why is the Governor making such comments which are liable for contempt," he said.

राज्यपाल श्री शीलेन्द्र कुमार सिंह ने संवैधानिक पद पर रहते हुए राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के बारे में जो गैर जिम्मेदाराना वक्तव्य दिया है उसकी हम निन्दा करते हैं। राज्यपाल द्वारा संघ को आतंकवादी संगठन बताया जाना और गांधी जी की हत्या में संघ की लिप्तता जैसा वक्तव्य देना तथ्यों से परे और न्यायालयों के निर्णयों के विरुद्ध है।
श्री सिंह को वक्तव्य से पूर्व यह जानकारी कर लेनी चाहिए थी कि गांधी जी की हत्या के बाद बने जांच आयोग ने संघ को इस हत्या में निर्दोष माना था यहां तक कि जांच आयोग की रिपोर्ट के अध्ययन के लिए बनी अलग-अलग कमेटियों द्वारा भी संघ को इस हत्या में पूर्णतः निर्दोष माना था। ये सब तथ्य दस्तावेजों में उपलब्ध हैं अतः राज्यपाल जैसे गरिमामय व संवैधानिक पद पर बैठे हुए व्यक्ति को इस तरह के आधारहीन वक्तव्य नहीं देने चाहिए।

संघ अपना कार्य हमेशा राष्ट्र की उन्नति और सम्मान के लिए करता आया है। संघ की शाखाओं में प्रतिदिन राष्ट्र प्रेम और राष्ट्र भक्ति का पाठ पढ़ाया जाता है अतः ऐसे राष्ट्र भक्ति से ओत-प्रोत संगठन के कार्यों को आतंकवाद बताना राज्यपाल का आधारहीन वक्तव्य है। राज्यपाल द्वारा ऐसे गरिमापूर्ण पद पर बैठकर किसी राजनीतिक पार्टी के कार्यकर्ताओं की तरह बयान देना निश्चित ही राज्यपाल जैसे पद के अनुकूल नहीं है।
उक्त बयान देने के संदर्भ में विधि विशेषज्ञों से राय ली जा रही है। इस संदर्भ में जो भी विधिक कार्यवाही अपेक्षित होगी वह की जायेगी।
