ABVP asks Centre to stop illegal infiltration

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Wednesday organised a massive anti-infiltration rally in Kishanganj. According to its leaders, the rally was organised to highlight the issue of illegal infiltration of Bangladeshis into the country, especially Bihar.
Over 50,000 ABVP cadre and sympathisers drawn from all-over the country had assembled in Kishanganj, where illegal infiltration has been taking place on an alarming scale.
The district administration had made elaborate arrangements for the rally in this sensitive area. A huge contingent of district armed police, Bihar Military Police, SAP and para-military forces were deployed in Kishanganj. According to Kishanganj SP, MR Naik foolproof security was made to meet any untoward eventuality during the rally.
"In view of the ABVP rally we're left nothing to chances," said the Kishanganj SP. Forces were deployed at all strategic points of the town, he said.
Besides, the district administration on high alert other top police officials from the neighboring districts of Purnia and Darbhanga too had camped in Kishanganj in view of the ABVP rally.
"The rally was an effort to make people aware of the illegal Bangladeshi infiltration in Kishanganj and Bihar," said the ABVP president Ram Naresh Singh. Organising secretary of ABVP B Surendran and national secretary K Raghunandan too addressed the rally and appealed the Central Government to take immediate measures to stop illegal infiltration through Kishanganj.
According to the ABVP leaders, over three crore people had infiltrated into India out of which 1.5 crore have settled in northeastern part of the country alone. "Despite such a large number of illegal infiltrations the Central Government is oblivious of the issue and has not been making any sincere effort to check it which would be a great national security threat in upcoming days," said ABVP leaders.
"When the entire country is facing terror threat from across the border, how come the Central Government be oblivious of such huge problem," said ABVP leader Sunil Ambekar.
Ambekar further said ABVP through its nationwide movement will aware the people and awake the Central Government about the gravity of the situation and continue its sustain efforts to deport all these illegal Bangaladeshi infiltrations. prove
The 30 km long stretch between Kishanganj and Islampur in the adjacent West Bengal is known as "Chicken's Neck" area and is completely affected with the Bangladeshi infiltrators mostly of whom are engaged in illegal activities, claimed the ABVP leaders. The ABVP leaders also raised slogans like "save Chicken's Neck" and "Bangladeshi Bhagao" in the rally.
Earlier, on Tuesday the ABVP cadres and members had formed a human chain on the main road of the district, Kishanganj-Dinajpur road highlighting the issue.
The State BJP leader and Council member, Rajendra Prasad Gupta told The Pioneer that earlier in the united Bihar it was not only Kishanganj but altogether14 districts were affected by the migrant people from Bangladesh but now the illegal infiltration has affected 8 districts of divided Bihar.
"The infiltration from Bangladesh has not only changed the demographic status of some of the border districts but also it has been making a big impact on the employment generation for the local people", said the BJP, MLC, Rajendra Gupta.
Making a startling revelation, Gupta further said that it was Bangladesh itself which had admitted that there has been a downfall of about 1 crore people in the census report. "Now I'd like to know where all the 1 crore people has gone. They have infiltrated into India through the bordering areas of Bihar like Kishanganj", said the BJP leader who has done an extensive survey on the subject of infiltration.
Interestingly, the district officials denied that there was any illegal infiltration in the district as no case has been registered regarding this in any police stations of Kishanganj. "As far as knowledge goes there is no Bangaldeshi infiltration in Kishanganj", said DIG, Purnia S K Jha. The Kishanganj SP MR Naik too said that district administration has no figure on illegal Bangladeshi settlers in the district.
